Smeda Named NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week

This past week, the NCCAA presented "Special Recognition for a Game Plan 4 Life Performance for Excellence" to Robin Smeda, a sophomore from Columbia, Missouri.   Her outstanding efforts as outside hitter, "emergency" setter, and team captain for Central Christian College of the Bible were a great contribution to her team's successful week and season.

On a recent trip to Kansas to play the Barclay Bears, the Lady Saints had sickness, van problems, hotel issues, and multiple injuries.  Robin was a constant encourager and leader on and off the court.  She helped to train bench players to fill the three spots that opened up and she moved from hitter to setter to fill that void.  She was a leader/coach in the head coach's absence.  She was in the worst of circumstances and yet she rose to the occasion.  She is an excellent volleyball player and an even better Christian role model and leader.

Smeda ended the season ranked as #5 in the NCCAA for blocking (#2 in the Central Division) with 36 solo blocks and 19 assisted block.  In the Central Region, she was #3 for digging with 180 total and #10 for aces with 21 total.

This is Robin's second year at Central, where she is a Christian Counseling major.
