Lady Saints Rolling with the Punches

The Lady Saints volleyball team has had a run of three straight wins out of four games played in the past three days. The team faced Faith this past friday night without freshman setter, Kelsi Mueller, but played well.  The games were tight, 15-25, 19-25 and 19-25, but in the end the Eagles prevailed.

Then on Saturday, the women beat Nebraska Christian College in two straight games.  The afternoon double header took place in Kroc Center in Omaha, Nebraska;  Central gave up only one game out of seven played: 25-15, 25-16, 25-22 in the first match and 25-12, 21-25, 25-17 and 25-19 in the second match.

Monday night the ladies defeated St. Louis Christian College in Florissant, MO.  The team, short two of their best hitters due to illness, fought hard and came home with the win in three straight games, a couple of which were real nailbiters.

"It was great for the team to see what they can do, despite having the entire team there.  I really gave them a hard time about almost losing one of the games in the match, but really I was just upset with myself for not spending more time with our bench players.  We have a great team - all nine young women can hold their own on the court.  I'm extremely excited about taking them to some post-season play," stated Coach Menear.

Friday, Oct. 7th, CCCB heads to Manhattan, KS for a 7:00pm game, then on to Barclay College on Saturday for a double header in Haviland, KS.  If the team can pull off a couple more wins, they will be headed to the ACCA national tournament in Joplin, MO.
