Saints drop two more.

The men's basketball team faced many challenges this weekend - the first of which included not having their coach. Coach Tony Askew was called away to Michigan, with the unexpected death of his sister-in-law, leaving Coach Menear to sit in the coach's seat for the Saints. The team pulled together, making a valiant effort, but fell short in their two road games in Iowa.
Friday night featured the Saints and the Eagles of Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa. Reggie Evans contributed 23 points and 8 rebounds to the scoreboard. Nick Ehlts, added 13 points and Winsten Dickerson put up 8 points. The men struggled to get into an offensive groove, scoring only 28, while the Eagles scored 54. Then they came back strong in the second half, outscoring Emmaus 39-31. But it wasn't enough to make up for the slow first half, and the Saints fell 67-85 in the end.
Saturday's game with Faith Baptist in Ankeny, Iowa was the exact opposite from Friday's game. The Saints, instead, started strong, keeping up with Faith's strong team, scoring 33 points to Faith's 46. The Eagles then came back in the second half to out score the Saints 60-39. The final score of 72-106 was a tough loss, giving Faith's large home crowd on "Senior Night" reason to cheer. Saints captain, Reggie Evans contributed 27 points on the evening - which included 7 from 3 point land. Nick Ehlts added 13 and Jacob "Corner" Franz, added 15.
Thursday, Feb. 18, the Saints head to Omaha, Nebraska for a pair of make-up games with Grace University and Nebraska Christian College. This will complete the season for the Saints, hoping to end on a high note.
